There’s a version of used boat sales where you get a fresh detail, a handshake, and a “she runs great.” We’ve been in the marine business long enough to know that’s not enough — for us, or for you.
The Flagship Certification is the same internal standard our Fleet Operations team runs on every vessel in the Carefree Boat Club fleet. It was built for one reason: our members needed to trust that the boat they reserved would start, run, and bring them home. No exceptions. We’ve carried that same non-negotiable standard into every boat we sell.
This isn’t a marketing checklist. It’s the actual document. Every category, every checkpoint — published in full below.
The certification isn’t something we hand out. It’s the result of years of daily inspections, scheduled service intervals, and documented repairs — all conducted under the same standards we hold ourselves to for our members. When a boat completes its service life with us, the 99-point check is the final audit. A confirmation, not a starting point.
The checklist is the promise. The boats are the proof.

Drivers FROM A PRIVATE SELLER
A mix of the owner, their teenagers, and friends borrowing it for the weekend.
Drivers IN OUR FLEET
NO FORMAL TRAINING
Little to no formal instruction. Often learning how to dock by trial and error (and bumping into pilings).
PRIVATELY TRAINED
Every driver completes comprehensive, mandatory on-the-water training with our USCG-certified captains before they are ever handed the keys. Each must have their NC or SC Boaters Safety Certificate
NO ACCOUNTABILTY
Zero financial accountability for whoever is driving if a minor scrape happens.
INVESTED IN THE FLEET
Members are financially liable for damage, and GPS tracking monitors every trip. They treat the boats with extreme care.
SITS IDLE, WEARS IT DOWN
REGULAR USE, HEALTHIER ENGINE
Consistently run on the water. Marine engines are designed to be run, resulting in “happy engines” with heavily lubricated, well-seated components. Washed, wiped down, and securely covered by our professional dock staff at the end of every single day. Inspected every morning before launch and given a deep, thorough inspection every single week.
REACTIVE MAINTENANCE
Maintenance only happens after something breaks. DIY fixes in the driveway using YouTube tutorials, or taking it to the cheapest shop with a long wait.
“Trust me, she runs great.” No official service logs, no proof of impeller changes or 100-hour services.
PROACTIVE MAINTENANCE
Strict adherence to hourly and calendar-based maintenance schedules. Serviced exclusively by our dedicated in-house Fleet Operations Director and certified 3rd-party marine technicians. Never patched or compromised. A fully documented, verified service log tracking every oil change, filter swap, and inspection from day one.
LOW HOURS, THE REAL STORY
SPECS 150 hours on the engine.
REALITY High anxiety. Those 150 hours are full of unknown grounding incidents, deferred maintenance, and hidden wear. You won’t know the truth until you are stranded on the water.
HIGHER HOURS, THE BETTER STORY
SPECS 300–800 hours on the engine.
REALITY Proven reliability. A perfectly broken-in engine backed by our massive 99-Point Certified Inspection. You know exactly what you are buying, with the paperwork to prove it.
